Sports Chiropractor & Sports Injury Care in Denver, CO
Studholme Chiropractic is a Denver sports chiropractor for people whose pain hasn't responded to anything else. We don't do the five-minute adjustment and a printed sheet of exercises. We find what's actually causing your injury, measured, not guessed, and we do the rehab with you until you're back doing what you love.
What does a sports chiropractor do?
A sports chiropractor diagnoses and treats injuries that affect how you move, not just the spine, but the knees, ankles, shoulders, hips, and the soft tissue around them. The difference from a regular chiropractor is the added training and the workflow: assessment of the whole movement chain, hands-on treatment, and a rehab plan built to get an active body back to performance, not just out of pain.
At Studholme, that means we treat the cause, not the symptom. If your knee hurts, the problem might be your hip or your foot, and we have the tools to actually see which. You don't have to be a pro athlete to benefit. We treat weekend runners, desk-bound lifters, post-surgical patients, and people who just want to move without pain.
We measure it. We don't guess.
Most providers tell you what they think is wrong. We measure it, then we show you on a whiteboard so you can see what's driving your problem. The diagnostic testing we've brought under one roof is rare for a clinic our size:
How you move in real life, so we can identify the patterns behind your pain or injury.
Noraxon 3D running & gait analysis with EMG and Force Plates
VALD & DynaMo (Dynamometer)
The same strength testing trusted by professional and Olympic teams, helping identify weaknesses, measure asymmetries, and track your progress objectively.
EMG muscle testing
Turns invisible muscle activity into real time feedback, making it easier to retrain movement and build strength with every repetition.
NIRS muscle-oxygen testing
(MOXY)
Turns muscle oxygen data into real time feedback, so you can train at the right intensity, recover smarter and improve performance.
VO2 max testing
The gold standard for measuring cardiovascular fitness, helping guide training, performance, and long term health.
A clear understanding of how your body moves, where it's underperforming, and exactly what needs to improve. Every recommendation is guided by objective data, so your treatment is targeted, your progress is measurable, and you can get back to doing what you love with confidence.
Here's what that all that gets you:
We do the rehab with you
Finding the problem is only the first step. Lasting results come from changing how your body moves, and that doesn't happen with adjustments alone.
Your first visit is a two-hour, full body evaluation. From there, every follow up combines hands on treatment with one-on-one rehabilitation, so you're not just given exercises, you're coached through them.
We also film your rehab exercises, so you leave with personalized videos showing exactly what to do at home. No guessing. No trying to remember what you were shown.
To support that process, we combine rehabilitation with advanced treatment tools that most chiropractic clinics don't have under one roof.
-
Medical-grade therapy that calms pain and speeds healing; to you it feels like a warm heat pad.
-
Supports and offloads tissue while still letting you move.
-
Precise neck testing and rehab; only two in Colorado.

The same care trusted by pro and Olympic athletes
Dr. Nicholas Studholme has spent more than two decades working with elite athletes from the English Premier League, Major League Soccer, and the NHL, along with Olympic medalists and Ironman world champions. He's the chiropractic consultant for the University of Denver's athletics program and one of only a few U.S. chiropractors certified in AMIT, a GIFT Fellow, and an FNOR practitioner. His clinic houses one of the nation's only Noraxon Centers of Excellence.
The motion-capture technology he co-founded, SparkMotion, is used by professional teams across the NBA, NFL, and MLB and by U.S. Olympic Training Centers, the same caliber of analysis we put to work on your injury.
Finding the Problem Before Treating the Pain
Pain isn't always caused by the tissue that hurts. Sometimes the problem begins because certain muscles aren't contributing as effectively as they should, forcing other muscles and joints to compensate. Over time, those compensations can change the way you move, reduce performance, and place more stress on the body.
That's why we don't just examine the painful joint or tissue. We evaluate how your muscles are functioning, how they're working together, and how they influence the way you move.
One of the assessment methods we use is Advanced Muscle Integration Technique (AMIT). Developed by Dr. Craig Buhler during his 26 years as team chiropractor for the NBA's Utah Jazz, and building on the clinical kinesiology work of Dr. Alan Beardall, AMIT provides another way to assess muscle function as part of a complete evaluation.
Dr. Studholme is one of only a few AMIT certified practitioners in Colorado. Combined with EMG, strength testing, 3D movement analysis, and our other objective assessments, it helps us identify the underlying movement deficits that may be contributing to your pain, so treatment is focused on the cause, not just the symptoms.

Sports Chiropractor FAQs
-
No. "Sports" describes our approach, not the patient. We treat weekend warriors, runners, lifters, post-surgical patients, and anyone whose pain is limiting how they move. The same movement analysis that keeps a pro soccer player on the field works just as well on a desk worker with nagging back pain.
-
Sports chiropractors have additional training in evaluating and treating injuries throughout the body, not just the spine. That often includes rehabilitation, soft tissue treatment, taping, return to sport planning, and performance testing. At Studholme Chiropractic, we combine those skills with objective tools like 3D gait analysis, EMG, balance and strength testing to guide treatment and measure progress.
-
If your pain isn't improving, keeps returning, or hasn't responded to other treatments, it's time for a more detailed evaluation. The sooner the cause is identified, the sooner treatment can begin, but we also see many people who have been dealing with pain for months or even years.
-
Yes. Adjustments and hands on treatment are part of what we do, but they're only one piece of your care. We combine them with rehabilitation, objective testing, laser therapy, and other treatments based on what your evaluation shows you need.
-
Your first visit is two hours and includes a full body functional evaluation. We review your history, perform objective testing, explain what we find using a whiteboard, and then start your personalized treatment plan. Follow up visits are one hour and combine hands on care with guided rehabilitation. We also film your exercises so you can confidently continue them at home.
